Concert, outdoor photography and drawing exhibition by Malakasa Camp Solidarity group

The initiative developed out of a network of workers, volunteers and residents inside the Malakasa refugee camp, who are organising amongst themselves so as to go beyond what their jobs perscribe in order to tackle the urgent needs of the residents of the camp, to raise pubilc awareness, combat social exclusion, and to find ways to integrate into the life of the city through cultural and educational projects.

The House of Women: For Empowerment and Emancipation, is a self-organised Feminist advocacy group. Inspired by antisexist and antirasist prinicples, the grou focuses on supporting female refugees that are victims of sexual and other abuses.

During the fest on Avdi Square, the advocacy group The House of Women: For Empowerment and Emancipation distribute information, raise awareness, and sell hancrafted items, collecting donations for the purchase of first-aid goods for the support of the women refugee inmates held at Petrou Ralli Foreign National Detention Center. UBUNTU DRUM and dance group is a Pan-African group based in Athens.

"In Zulu, a South African language, ubuntu means humanity, compassion and kindness. We believe that Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu meaning that a person is a person through other people. In short, we are all connected and cannot survive without each other. Therefore, we perform traditional drum and dances with music from all over Africa, through the spirit of Ubuntu. The dancers and drummers are from different parts of Africa and we welcome anyone who shares our passion for music and dance."
